We’ve all most likely consumed regular, ‘true’ tea in our lives. This includes our green, black, and white teas that are so easily accessible on our supermarket shelves. These true teas are made from the leaves of the tea plant ‘Camellia Sinesis’ and are all naturally caffeinated. Herbal teas, on the other hand, are produced solely from tisanes, which are blends or infusions of herbs that are naturally caffeine free and are steeped from an entire plant- like stems, leaves, flowers, spices, roots, etc.

Herbal tea blends- the real, organic stuff- offer a multitude of health promoting properties and have been used as natural remedies for all kinds of ailments for centuries. Given they are naturally sourced, blended, and steeped, they hold significant constituents including antioxidants, nutrients, minerals, and vitamins.

PLANT/HERB BENEFITS

  • IMMUNITY BOOSTING
Herbal teas are excellent ways to keep/and or boost our immune system. Depending on the blend of herbs, they may contain certain constituents that are beneficial in clearing the nasal passage, soothing the throat, and easing heavy coughs.

  • IMPROVED DIGESTION
Herbal tea may assist in the breakdown of fats and speed up the emptying of the stomach. In doing so, it reduces symptoms of indigestion, bloating, and, other gastrointestinal disturbances. Some great herbs include peppermint, dandelion, and spearmint.

  • REDUCED ANXIETY AND STRESS
Many herbal teas have a relaxing effect on the nervous system, efficiently relieving symptoms of stress and anxiety. Given that herbs may activate the parasympathetic nervous system, they are highly beneficial for those who struggle with sleep disorders, like insomnia, to consume as a pre-sleep ritual.

  • LOWERED BLOOD PRESSURE
Blends that contain Hibiscus have been seen to naturally reduce blood pressure, without the risk of negative side effects as seen with some prescribed medications. When we lower our blood pressure, we also protect the heart and kidneys, ultimately enhancing our physical and mental wellbeing.

  • ENHANCED SKIN HEALTH
Herbal teas are surprisingly effective in the treatment of acne and skin breakouts. Due to their antioxidants and antibacterial properties, they serve as a natural and non-harmful method of treating and soothing the skin without posing any harsh or harmful side effects.
