Studios and Classes

Within our Wellbeing Area are three studios, incorporating modalities of Yoga, Pilates, Mindfulness, Functional Training, and Cardio.

Yoga and Mindfulness

Our Mindfulness studio incorporates timber flooring, far infrared heating panels, chromotherapy lighting design and high quality yoga mats, cushions and props. Offering the ability to pre-book your mat for your class, our studio places value on comfortability and relaxation when practicing mindfulness.

Our philosophy in Yoga and Mindfulness

At Vitality House, we incorporate various modalities in mindfulness and pride ourselves on remaining open-minded. We feel Yoga must be adapted to the individual's changing needs, with an emphasis on the use of breath in asana, the relationship of asana to pranayama and the relationship of asana/pranayama to meditation, and to life (Mark Whitwell)

By directing attention away from the distractions of the outer world, mindfulness allows us to focus on our inner journey. This may be through yoga, meditation, breathwork or sound healing, each with an equal emphasis on the individual and their experience.

Hatha Yoga

Our hatha yoga class is a 60 minute warmed flow that combines asana, pranayama and meditation through a sequence of postures. Hatha meaning ‘force’ and more traditionally defined as ‘the yoga of force’, or ‘the means of attaining a state of yoga through force’ is a gentle class that embraces balance and typically practiced slower than a vinyasa class with longer static postures. This class is warmed to no more than 30 degrees utilising far-infrared heating panels.

Recommended for those who enjoy a more simple yoga practice with an emphasis on the breath.

Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa is our staple yoga practice, a combination of asana, pranayama, and meditation taught in a dynamic sequence of postures. Vinyasa Yoga involves a continuous flow of breath and body movement allowing for a deep-moving meditative practice. This class promotes an inner connection, expression, and flow and is suitable for all levels, no matter the experience. This class is warmed to no more than 30 degrees utilising far-infrared heating panels.

Yin Yoga

Our yin yoga classes are 90 minutes in duration and are non-heated. Yin yoga allows us to stress and nourish our deeper connective tissues, ligaments, joints, bones and fascia. Mindfully moving into postures that are held for 3-5 minutes utilising props, bolsters and blankets. Yin yoga is a simple practice that returns us to our centre, our whole. Through balancing the more active and muscular yoga practices with long held postures we are able to remove energy blockages and increase our flow of chi through the body, heart and mind. Yin yoga also incorporates breath and meditation throughout its practice, allowing for our nervous system and cognitive systems to be brought back into equilibrium.

We recommend Yin Yoga to those who combine weightlifting, strenuous exercise or work in a heavy labouring position into their daily lives, to balance yang with ying.

Breathwork

Our breathwork classes combine the ancient tradition of pranayama and scientific breathing techniques that support vitality. In these ancient practices, there are hundreds of varieties of breathing patterns that are available to us, through this knowledge our teachers will guide you through a breath journey that promotes the flow of prana - life energy. On a physical level, breathwork utilises and strengthens the whole range of respiratory organs through exploring the lower, middle and upper parts of the breath through inhalation, retention and exhalation. Through a regular breathwork practice, we are able to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, countering the stimulation overload our bodies endure through our fight or flight response.

Meditation

Meditation is a basic practice for quieting the mind and connecting to yourself. Meditation aims to give you a deeper appreciation of the interconnectedness of all things. A way of listening and learning more deeply, revealing your true nature and bringing upon feelings of joy and happiness.

A regular meditation practice is difficult to some, this guided practice allows for you to feel supported and connected by others. Meditation has a powerful effect on your physical, mental and emotional health, providing greater compassion, awareness, clarity and calm.

Mat Pilates

A form of exercise that focuses on strengthening the body’s deep core muscles. The class will move through a range of full-body exercises and sequences at the pace of the instructor using a range of props to alter intensity as well as the use of breath with every movement. With some similarities to yoga, pilates is also known to focus on balance, posture and flexibility. Classes will be suitable to all levels with different progressions being offered by the instructor, no experience is required.

Sound Bath Therapy

Facilitated with very pure, highly resonant Australian quartz crystal singing bowls. At 432Hz the nervous system will quieten, and the brain will synchronize with the sound frequency moving the body and mind to a deeper level of relaxation. As the body relaxes, the parasympathetic nervous system activates and triggers the release of serotonin, melatonin, and endorphins. As we move from our busy beta waves into alpha (relaxed consciousness), theta (meditative state) and delta waves (sleep where healing takes place), we let go and allow for a deep sense of peace.

Movement Studio

Our movement studio provides the incorporation of a functional fitness routine and places focus on recovery through mobility and stretching. Functional movement takes your joints through their full range of motion and engages the stabilising muscles which is important in preventing injury and bringing efficient and healthy movement back to the body. This boutique studio features all Technogym equipment, including free weights up to 30kg, TRX straps, cable machine, bands, balls, mobility sticks and foam rollers.

Cardio Fitness Room

Our cardio fitness studio features top of the range Technogym equipment, including exercise bikes, treadmills and rowers. The cardio equipment provides the opportunity to tune into live or on-demand content and track your workouts and progress through the MyWellness App.
